A random pleasant recollection: Patrick O'Brian not long before his death, asked by Walter Cronkite how he exlained his success as a writer, replying: "I attribute it to the good taste and good judgment of my readers." I wonder if what we have going today on the Dow is perhaps in part the mother of all short squeezes. Countless billions are changing hands. Oil money coming into the market? Oh my God, what if the Saudis are buying Dow stocks this time instead of gold.
