David.

Great discussion!

My take on the brokerage fad.

It is here to stay.

Perhaps look at volume in terms of GDP to normalize it to something meaningful.

The customers save tons of gasoline in CA by not having to drive to Reno, Vegas or a local Native American reservation.

I never let the idiots that like to gamble stand between making good investment decisions.

Pretty good meltup today.

Would you believe I bought some ABF Monday with profits taken out of the semi sector? Too lucky on that to do more than grin a watermelon smile. I am still kicking myself for not adding more to financials, though there is probably still time.

PS great part of the internet, I learned something new on taxes and how I can get the commissions and such back from exercising ESO's today. (I thought you just took them as normal income and all the numbers they give me I ignore since it shows in my W2...wrong!) Updated my TurboTax and have another $100! 8)

Here is where I learned that trick:

David,

It's almost all computerised now but, are we seeing a similar trend? I am thinking of the recent complaints against TD Waterhouse. They are having a lot of trouble servicing all the trades correctly due to the huge volume increases. I gather other brokerages are in the same pickle. Yet, they continue to advertise for more customers! And, they continue to encourage rapid trading and day trading.

TD Waterhouse has major problems IMHO. I am moving my accounts. Not sure where yet but the current service is abysmal. In fact, many times I can't even access my Webroker account at night. I can sign in but I can't access my account holdings.

I have had to use the phone to make my trades recently.

The last couple days I have been reviewing the book "Devil Take The Hindmost". Just scanning the book yields insight worth noting. This is one of those rare books that one should review at least once a year.
