Timing! APA has to move now as the EnP's are rising every week. If they wait six months it will be too late. As for the buyback, if they buy with equity then the buyback is a sneaky way to acquire cheaply (heh-heh-heh!!). Bid up APA stock prior to completion of negotiations. I agree with you that short term an acquisition might hurt APA if it is not immediately accretive to earnings. Personally think any acquisition will be immediately accretive.
