Due to the difficulty involved in shorting an IPO
on the first day, I doubt that those transactions
you saw were in fact shorts. It is very difficult
(though possible) to find a US broker the will show
Affirmative Determination and allow the short on the
new offering. Since you said almost all the transactions
were indicated as shorts, that would mean that the
indicator is probably incorrect. Is that Q charts that
showed this data. I seriously doubt that information is
really available regardless of what the quote vendor says.
I believe I recall Q saying on their website that it was.

Jon,

I have been using L2 and the Island book now for 2 years and have not seen a trade marked "s" indicating short either during it's listing or after it's trade. What am I missing? This would be a super bit of info to have.

thanks,

Shootie
