Tejek.. Re..<<<<<There are not many things I prefer about Intel but in terms of diversification, Intel is years and miles ahead of AMD.

Tejek, my point is that many companies try to diversify; but its not that successful very often, and Intel in fact hasn't been able to diversify yet as only the processor division makes money for Intel. Tellingly, Intel was diversified in early eighties, but by selling off memory divisions, was able to focus on core group, and finally really make money. AMD by selling other divisions, now is down to a core group and is primarily focused on two groups; and co-incidently, AMD has the best flash memory in the world and is able to produce the fastest x-86 processor in the world. Now when AMD is finally making real money, you want AMD to diversify and lose focus on the two divisions. Just remember, AMD'S EPS is likely to be higher than Intels, not just this quarter, but for all of 2000. Has diversification helped Intel's bottom line? Not yet,as Itanic is almost certain to be a flop, Intel is losing control of chipsets, Pewee is difficult to produce over 733 mhz, Willy depends upon a problematic Rambus;and the kicker, Willy in a head to head confrontation with Tbird lost at Cebit. Maybe Cebit was a fluke, but Intel is on a roll in the wrong direction and if Willy doesn't come through quickly, will have to undiversify to regain focus.
