hi walter, just an opinion.. if edig wishes to compete in the digital download arena they will embrace the sdmi phase 1/2 standards and incorporate them in their designs. the multiple codec option will make them unique. they will be able to support other's implementations of the standards as well as proprietary methods of watermarking or encrypting data. cisco systems does the same thing with routers. they support the standards yet have proprietary protocols that make them unique. remember the best product does not always win in the end. if i were edig i might even talk to mp3 or some independant content providers (jbrd) and see if they could partner. who knows they might be interested. i believe partnerships, sales, and marketing will eventually make the difference. fred should get a good pr firm once the product is developed. good day. cnep
