netpilgrim.com a destination site for technology professionals has tied up with Futurestep to facilitate online executive search for the IT industry and its professionals.

Futurestep is a joint venture of headhunting firm Korn/Ferry International and The Wall Street Journal that facilitates online executive search and placement across industries.

Netpilgrim is an initiative of Netpilgrim Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of eVentures India ( a joint venture between Murdoch-owned ePartners and Indian industrialist P K Mittal).

Netpilgrim will be Futurestep's exclusive partner in India for online executive search. Pramod Metre, chief executive officer, netpilgrim.com said the intention was to push the Indian IT professional up the value chain while helping bridge the demand-supply gap in this space.

"Netpilgrim's focus is on providing all kinds of support services to technologists in the IT industry. Through the recruitment services, we will match people with jobs and not just provide a place for job postings. We will provide the fulfillment systems and satisfy both the prospective employer and the job hunter," he said.

Futurestep has more than 600,000 professionals registered in its candidate database. The alliance with Futurestep will allow netpilgrim's registered community access to exclusive job opportunities with the former's clients worldwide, Metre said.

The site will be especially helpful for software professionals to get jobs in foreign countries like the United States. "Once the professional gets the job, Netpilgrim will also provide value addition in the form of helping him or her with formalities related to relocating there. For instance, opening a bank account there is difficult without a credit history. We shall facilitate this through tie-ups with financial institutions," he said.

Futurestep clients range from start-up ventures to Fortune 500 companies. Metre said the entire process of recruitment would be faster on the Internet using Futurestep's tools and techniques. Futurestep will also provide netpilgrim.com content on key career management issues, including interview and resume tips, and information on the value of specific skills in the international job market.

Meanwhile, Netpilgrim plans to go in for a second round of venture funding in the next six weeks. It expects 200,000 registered users by the end of the second quarter of this calendar year and also has plans to start Netpilgrim centres to accelerate Internet access. The first one will come up early next quarter while seven more will come up in the next couple of months.
