Christopher, I think that what that poster was trying to accomplish was buying pure Cube-semi (the soon to be spun-off semiconductor division). By shorting HLIT (selling it now) while also taking a position in CUBE today, when the sale of Divi goes through he will close out his short of HLIT shares with the shares of HLIT he receives as a shareholder of C-Cube Microsystems.

This is probably clear as mud. One more time. If you buy CUBE today you will end up with Cube-semi and HLIT shares after the sale of Divi. If you think Cube-semi has more upside than HLIT and you want to conserve your capital, thus all you want to own is Cube-semi, you buy CUBE today and short HLIT. When the sale of Divi goes through you receive HLIT shares, which you use to close out your short position and you end up with a pure position in Cube-semi.

Cube needs to clear up the deal! I mean, in a few weeks the company is going to disappear and re-emerge as another company! The company needs to make clear exactly what day is this going to happen? Will the stock be off the market at all? I almost sold at 100, but I was too confused to do anything. Most people probably sell when they're uncertain.
