I think you both have good points. Conspiracies are not real common. Brokerage manipulation??? More likely the market makers like volatility for several reasons. Brokerage firms don't mind stock prices dropping to pick up blocks for 'valued' clients. Pick up the stock cheap, reiterate strong buys, take advantage of volatility on both sides. It's kind of like gas prices. Somebody is making money somewhere and not everything is what it seems. Poor schmucks like us are usually the last to know and the first to go. The point is: The odds are in the 'house' favor.

ps. I have noticed with the new instinet, large spreads after close, high and low. Usually the stock opens around where it closed the previous day with the usual 3% upside bias that AWRE has. Doubt any open in mid 50's tomorrow.

Elroy: "manipulating the stock to make money for their clients" Let me ask you...do they only make money when their clients do? Enough said.

Open those closed meetings or kick out the analysts.
