I have used Datek for about 1 1/2 years. I agree with your post. 98% of the time the service is very good, excellent even. I could go on at length about the advantages, fast execution, island representation, instant portfolio updates, instant access to money from stock just sold, in a non-margined account. I can trade the same 50K 5 or 10 times a day, they do not hold up your funds. They never bump you off. When I log on in the morning I am connected until I break the connection. I have stayed logged on overnight, as long as 36 hours. Not only do they have an express screen but there are a handful of third party trading screens. Several of them are pretty close to awesome for multiple order, gun-slinging day trades. I can place an order for 1K shares in abc, cancel, bump it up to 2K and reorder all on the same screen, without re-entering my password, all in about 6 seconds. When the market, or the Naz is running slow you will have the same problems as any other broker. However I have never had any of the horror stories with orders or cancels hung up in nowhere land for hours at a time. A few times a year they will have something gum up the works. When they do, you cannot get through on the phone due to the large client base. All lines will get busy. The rest of the time you will get through on the 2nd or 3rd ring. I have traded long enough to know when they are having problems I just don't even bother. In most cases the problems are cleared up in 20 mins or less. I have no affiliation except they have several accounts for me. I have been quite pleased. KK
