Hi X. You know what? One reason for changing my job was to concentrate more on work and also be less attached to the market. The funny thing is that at my new place, I am finding many engineers who are concentrating on the market on daily(almost hourly) basis. They're all into tech stocks, They even know about cutting loss=trading(which explains every day's volatility). Most of them don't understand how shorting a stock works. They usually buy a few stocks in odd lots and don't sell them until they start coming back down, sometimes selling too late since they don't use stop-loss/stop-gain.

One of the younger ones was suggesting that we should all meet once a day and talk about what stock(s) to buy!! He wasn't kidding either.

Imagine how hard it is for me to stay clear of such discussions. I usually take the negative(older and wiser!) view of "everything is over-valued". That is a big turn off to them!!
