Iridium satellites are LEOs - they are in lower Earth orbit, which is close to earth. The force of gravity pulls satellites down to earth, and the LEOs get pulled faster/sooner. So they'll be pulled out of orbit and become unstable, sooner than the MEOs or GEOs. I think also the "wings" are fragile, get beaten up by space dust and debris.
