Lions Gate names new CEO, vice chairmen
VANCOUVER, March 22 (Reuters) - Lions Gate Entertainment (AMEX:LGF - news)(Toronto:LGF.TO - news) said late on Tuesday it named former Sony Pictures Entertainment executive Jon Feltheimer as its vice chairman and chief executive.

Lions Gate founder Frank Giustra will remain chairman and will guide merger and acquisition activities, the Vancouver-based film production and distribution company said. It added that Michael Burns will become vice chairman.

``In my past two months as a strategic adviser to Lions Gate, I have worked closely with the board of directors in identifying a number of strategic moves,' Feltheimer said in a statement.

``We are deeply committed to launching Lions Gate on an accelerated growth path that expands its production capabilities, extends its distribution network and leverages its distinctively fresh content in a fast-growing digital environment.'

Feltheimer spent eight years at Sony Pictures Entertainment as executive vice president. He was also president of the Columbia TriStar Television Group, managing its global production and distribution businesses, Lions Gate said.

Feltheimer and Burns, through their media management and investment firm MediaPact, organised a $33 million preferred equity financing for Lions Gate in January.

Burns was managing director and head of Prudential Securities Inc.'s investment banking office in Los Angeles for nine years, Lions Gate said.
