It is downright amazing that, despite the extraordinarily close games yesterday, favorites kept prevailing. In 1997, we had an identical Day 1, with 15 of the 16 top seeds winning. That year, on Friday there were 6 upsets, including #2 losing to #15 and #3 losing to #14.

You're right. Georgetown almost lost in the first round in 1984 before winning it all and UCLA a couple of years ago needed a last second coast-to-coast drive by Tyus Edney in the early rounds before defeating Arkansas in the final.
