US telco CenturyTel picks up 6.7% in ISP Dishnet for $23m

IN a quiet deal worth $22.9m, the US-based CenturyTel Inc (CTL) has picked up 6.67 per cent equity stake in Dishnet, a Chennai-based private national internet service provider (ISP), part of NRI businessman C Sivasankaran's Sterling group. Based on the size of this deal, Dishnet's total value works out to $343.33m. In comparison, the market capitalisation of rival ISP, the Nasdaq-listed Satyam Infoway, is $7bn.
