Soundview's $150 per share call may have something to do with ASP's.

ASP's are companies that supply software and upgrades from central servers for use by members of an Internet Service Provider or company. The user merely logs on, gains access and then uses the software, and creates some data which will be saved centrally.

Whenever the user logs on once again, he may access the document or data and , of course, the software.

An example of this is Sun Microsystems StarPortal which is a suite of office applications very similar to Microsoft Office Suite. I believe that Yahoo and AOL will permit users to use the office suite as long as they are associated with AOL or Yahoo. In the latter, I would expect a fee to be charged. The user can use a very rudimentary Internet device to logon remotely to write and share documents.

Why is this important? It requires heavy duty servers (SUNW) heavy duty routers and broadband connections (CSCO) and extraordinarily "beefed up" storage (EMC).

By the way the model does away with the need for the PC and Microsoft. However, look for Microsoft to join the party with their own portal offering which only helps the dynamic Internet trio SUNW, CSCO and EMC.
