Mike its the fact that they are 10,000 miles away.I can't get through to them on the phone where in your case you have 1-800 numbers.I call long distance and have in some cases spend days trying to contact them with no results.They don't have the proper infrastructure or customer service for international clients.The way I look at it is,I will pay the extra charges but in return I get a local guy who is at my service 24 hours a day and also have access to all their research.

A real life example was,I was trying to sell some RBAK to put the proceeds into GMST.For some reason, I could not do it online.I tried to do it via phone and waited on line for 35 minutes and gave up.At the end of the whole fiasco, I lost $6,800( sold RBAK lower bought GMST higher) in the difference of the trade plus a $120 phone call.

I am open to any suggestions.
