Well, let's see... either CHTR has some relative value as holding company with 31% stake in the the underlying cable company...

... or you're saying that GS, and all the other underwriters sold off billions in dollars of snake oil to some of the preferred clientele.

Which is it?

I would say that the best way to determine the value is based on subscribers. How many does T have, comcast, cox, time warner? I don't know where to get this info, but from it you could extraploate a relative value. You could then estimate future value based what each sub will be worth as the new services are added in and the infractructre build out expense goes down.

At this point the loss is because they are investing in the company. They are still pulling all of the pieces together. The street likes clarity. Until it becaomes a bit more clear how and if they will amke money, it will continue to languish.

This is a rsiky investment. Having read your messages on the JDSU board it may not be for you. Personally I believe in broadband. Only 6% of interent access is via braodband today. That includes business and home use. Can you imagine a future where that statistic doesn't go up? I realize that that is no assurance that anyone will make money from braodband, but I think it is a good bet that the 4th largest cable comapny will be one of them.
