You've got the "pitchpole" concept down accurately. One second you are carving along at 25 mph and the next second, the bows have buried, the boat goes "A over T" and both the skipper and the crew obey the laws of physics as related to momentum. (g)

"Switching gears" relates to instantaneously changing the sail curvatures via the sheets (ropes to the non-nautical). Flatten for speed, fill out for power.

Did catch the Intel story but appreciate the heads-up.
