We should be thankful to Son for having taken on the ZD losses on private basis and returning same in saleable state when it was to be partially sold. ZD losses should rightfully be considered a finders fee for having found Yahoo!. Maybe there would be more ZDs when Nasdaq Japan is in full swing, making losses on the market operation but unearthing new investment opportunities for 9984 proper.

Economist seems intent on picking a fight.

For a fight they can easily do same with General Electric's profit management, News Corp's tax management, Citicorp's bad debt management, Britain's historic and now rightfully (probably due to sloth and excessive academic caution) insignificant culture management moves, and various other business and PR management moves during times of progress.

Behind each fortune there are some fast moves. Money makes might, might makes right, right makes more money.

Gad, do I seem opinionated against that most august publication? I actually regularly read there stuff and am happy to do so, even though at times I ignore their comments, as I do Barron's.
