Wm.G--I had the same thought, I wonder who makes zippy new ATM machines, as the current ones that we just bought certainly don't do what Cotsakos is going to want them to do...

Here's a possible fly in the ATM ointment, however: there have been several moves, at both the state and federal level, to deny (or limit) the fees that ATM owners can charge consumers for using their machines. In 1998 the Senate Banking Committee was deadlocked (as I recall) on a vote to do this, so needing a majority the measure failed to advance. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see this matter come before Congress again, and I understand that it (in several forms) is currently before something like 8 state legislatures. That's not to say that it will pass in all or even any of the states, but it is certainly a worrisome and, even in my strongly consumer-oriented opinion, wrong-headed move.
