OT - Bill: Re potential Rambus royalties...

Playstation: $5 @ [for 32MB]
PCs: $5-$10 @ [for 64MB and up]

These numbers seem high... I also thought Rambus was considering a reduction in the royalty rate to encourage adoption? (Sorry no idea where I read that -- some news article on Yahoo probably.)

And Apple got a lot of heat for its $1 royalty for IEEE 1394? This might have been reduced.

Do you have any references for the numbers you used in your quick assessment (I know you said "possibly")? I agree with your point: being an IP company can offer great margins for high-volume.

Rambus does have some expenses as in 4Q99 had annualized expenses (gross less net per Yahoo, biz.yahoo.com of $38M; revenues up 13% and net up 20% indicates very nice margins.

The same net income margin applies to AMD also as we all look forward to the numbers for 1Q00.
