I am having visions of college students EVERYWHERE adopting eBooks, and FAST. We could have an instant revolution on our hands here. Do you remember how expensive and BIG most of those college textbooks were? We had to lug those monstrous things around in backpacks and pay upwards of $60 apiece for the privelege. A graphics capable ebook, MP3 player, wireless phone is a natural fit for students.

Ebooks could singlehandedly raise SAT test scores. If I'd had an ebook in high-school, I would have been more likely to carry it home and perhaps even do some homework.

I am concerned however that it is a piece of cake for PDA mfgs to bump up the size a tad and incorporate ebook functionality in their devices. I wonder what, if any, locks on ebook technology GMST picked up in the 2 acquisitions? Either way, I see a LOT of convergence happening with ebooks, and soon. I wonder whether ebooks will adopt multiple functions or whether other devices (laptops, PDA's) will add ebook functionality? Who's devices will rise to the top, and how does GMST stand to gain from all this?

My question is this: as a consumer, what prompted you to buy the Rocket over the SoftBook?
Because I heard about the Rocket e-book long before I knew there was a SoftBook. I guess first mover means a lot. Or maybe I had a subconscious urge to buy it because of its name.
