I2: Re: "Could a conflict between China and Taiwan be the catalyst for a worldwide drop in stock prices?"

No doubt. But a conflict is not here at this point.

Tension will increase between China and Taiwan as a result of the election. Markets discounted only a one in three chance of the election of Shu - bian as opinion polls were banned two weeks before election and election was too close to call at best. Watch Asian markets on Sunday night for reaction. Chip investors are exposed here.

"That's a real good way to make me want to invest my money in Taiwan. NOT!!"

Well. Those of us who share this concern better hope we don't own any shares of Dell or Applied Materials. Or a host of other company stocks, because the business models of these outfits are directly tied to the chip business in Taiwan. NOT! is knot!!

Ciao,
David Todtman
