Dan, could this be the "crack" in RMBS' armor? Until now it was assumed that the X-box will be powered with RMBS, I think this is a new piece of news. It might be worth at least a visit to $330.

Dan, <X Box RAM news.... true or false??? probably a guess>

I doubt X-Box is going to use DDR. Remember, for a long time, the press thought that AMD processors were going to be used. Wouldn't surprise me if the press is dead wrong about the memory technology as well.

As for X-Box, Microsoft said that it will feature 6.4 GB/sec of memory bandwidth, but only 64 MB of memory capacity. I state the obvious: Rambus is the perfect solution for these memory specifications. Why? Because you can implement 64 MB and 6.4 GB/sec using only four RDRAM chips, each chip having its own channel to the system. You can't do that with DDR.

So why does the article think DDR will be used instead of RDRAM? Probably it's the next wave of anti-Rambus FUD. Remember, the FUD does seem to come in waves. The last wave was back in Q4 1999 when Intel has 820 chipset problems. I think the next wave is starting right now, after RMBS stock is settling down. Hopefully I can pick up some shares in the mid 300's.
