Zeev, >> However, a delay affecting Microsoft's operating system software pushed the box into 2001

Looks like some more mythical man month projections out of Microsoft. The X-Box code is still on paper napkins. <ggg>

Also buried in that article is a confirmation of something I've seen elsewhere - the next generation Nintendo box will not use RDRAM.

zeev, rmbs doesn't have any marginal cost / marginal benefit armor to dent. that is the whole problem. rdram, imho, is a niche product. MAYBE 5-10% of the market over the market in the long term.

i know the first question being asked by many server companies that are reviewing next gen mother boards based on rdram is "why did you use dram?" i KNOW this.

why? what does one gig rdram cost compared to 1 gig sdram? it nearly doubles the price of some boxes. let's see... one rdram box or two sdram boxes...

ho ho ho ho ho ho ho!!!!!!! -ng-

Hi Zeev:

I agree. Thanks for the heads-up on this. I saw the earlier press releases, but have been up to my ears for the last few days on due diligence and missed this one.

best, Earlie
