Uncle Frank: Since much of my early experience has been that Cisco can meet just about any challenge and win, and I found that not selling despite apparent threats (but to ride the rollercoaster down expecting it to come up and go up, and up, and....)was not only the way I reacted, but that turned out to be the way to go, I am in no way suggesting that Cisco is dead meat or a sales candidate right now.

But this challenge goes to the key to Cisco's strength - its hold on software for networking which is essential.

The problem is that it is electronic, and a fiber optics switch is optical. And the major bottleneck in fiber is electronic switching. When and if optical switching is a reality, Cisco's lock is pried open.

This is as I understand, and as you know I am only a learner not a technology wiz. I may be completely wrong on this.

But I do suggest to Justin and others that this inflection point for Cisco - fiberoptics networking - should be watched carefully.

Best regards.
