try right-clicking on the cpu usage sensor and selecting reset. that might do it

[edit: also suggest right-clicking on sensor and selecting 'what's this?'. you'll note the statement that describes situations under which 100% readings are not uncommon.]

i looked into symantec's knowledge base for your prob, and it was the first one listed under 'cpu usage sensor'. btw, since reading your question, i activated a cpu sensor on my desk top (along with about 9 others i already have running). most of the time it stays between the 4%-7% range. i see 100% peaks upon isp connection and maybe 70% spikes when opening browsers. 50% usage registers when opening new web pages. but have not experienced the prob you describe. fwiw.

RE: Pegged Norton System CPU Sensor..
I had the same problem with a new Dell 400 using Win 98 and Microsoft's System Monitor program- it would slowly climb up to 100% cpu usage. Check out Microsoft Knowledge Base link, could be a software bug, support.microsoft.com
I don't think the cpu was really at 100% usage but Dell took the computer back, this a year ago.
