Although I too believe that a gorilla game is nit near yet in optical switching, it is a very complicated subject for we non-tech heads(at least for me). Heck the difference between a switch and a router is hard for me to grasp. But,as these new technologies will certainly have an impact on some of our investments (CSCO, JDSU, Nortel etc..) and the tech itself is fascinating I have found a good source for some info. If interested try this link on the Fool. FrozenCanuck,Ndenga,Geoffchase are particuliarly sharp. boards.fool.com this link explains the diff between switches, routers etc.. btw it is their opinion that a true optical router is a long way off.
