Walt,

Thanks much for that valuable list of prior 90% days. I was delighted to see the 2 back-to-back entries from August of '82, as I believe the pattern we've just completed has a very high correlation with the 2 year pattern leading up to those 2 rally days in 8/82.

To summarize, a roughly 45% rally (NYSE Comp) spanning 8 months ensued from the 4/1/80 low. This rally was followed by a sideways corrective period of 20 months, which terminated at the 8/82 lows, and was followed by the 90% rally days you mentioned.

Now to compare that action with present market action. A roughly 45% rally (NYSE Comp) spanning 6 months ensued from the 10/8/98 low. This rally was followed by a sideways corrective period of 11 months, which terminated at the 3/14/00 lows, and was followed by the 90% rally day(s) of this week.

A strong case could be made that we may see a similar rally going forward as was seen from the 8/82 lows into the 5/83 highs, a general market rally of nearly 70%. I guess that would push the NYSE up near 1,000??

Regards,

David
