Well Clappy,

I don't know about the rest of the thread but I feel insulted like heck (I was going to say hell but this is a family thread, oops....I did it anyway)<GGGGGGG>

Hey Clap, excellent response with perspective! Would like to add:

"And furthermore, most of us are just little ole guys and gals, just common folk going through life, much like someone you would pass on the street except that most on here are multimillionaires (and not having been born to it) due to our dogged determination, hard work, risk taking, and perseverance, that, in the end, would make our parents darn proud how we turned out ....."

Hey Clapton,

Thank you so much for your very thoughtful words to me.

I always read what V has to say re the market and will continue to read what V has to say because I find it interesting and I have learned a lot from it, in spite of any harsh words directed personally at me. But I don't aspire to be part of this thread ...so I won't take you up on your invitation to get to know any of you better because, and please forgive my bluntness, I don't want to be around people who can so quickly jump on others like a pack of wild dogs. And beyond those who jumped were those who wasted no time congratulating those that did. Someone relayed to me that they felt this thread had a Lord of the Flies type mentality at times. And here's what one person who pm'ed me said:

re:post 8104.....BRAVO!!! Thank you!, very well said!
(I would have loved to have said the same, but I have never posted on the porch, and so didn't feel I had the right to offer a criticism). Thanks again, ______

I thought I would share the above just so everyone realizes that I'm not the only one out there. Actually, I would never have said anything myself if one of the 'regulars' had said something. But no one would and it really did need saying. Things had gotten way out of hand (just the other side's opinion, folks). I never meant to detract from anything good that happens here -- that part just wasn't on my mind at the time I posted.

To me, in retrospect, the whole 'to be gross or not to be gross on SI' thing has only been the skeleton on which hangs the real meat of what went on and that is crowd behavior. It is fascinating to me that, with one exception, no one on the thread said anything about the topic except to condemn me in various ways and degrees. People were either silent or condemning.

The one exception is you, Clapton. It's great to see someone step away from the crowd and say something on his own. Appreciate it very much and, yes, you were one of the people I was addressing when I originally wrote -- so your comments are even more appreciated.

But...I am grateful to you ALL, sincerely, for keeping Voltaire posting. He has made the market not only more comprehensible to me, but a lot of fun as well.

This is all a learning game, as we all know. I've said what I had to say, you said what you had to say, and hopefully we will all have learned something and all that.

But, Clapton, as much as I appreciate your words, I'm sure you can understand why I don't want to get much closer to this porch, at least right now...except someone emailed me today with a question for Voltaire re CC's. Well, darn, there you go.
