Dan3 - <I didn't say it was an AMD facility, just that it was in Dresden. Sorry for any confusion. But Infineon's Dresden FAB, like AMD's, uses Motorola technology. It's very nearby, and given the close cooperation between AMD and Motorola on FAB technology together with close proximity of these two facilities, I'd expect any "lessons learned" at Infineon/Motorola will be made available to the AMD/Motorola FAB.>

I see what your getting at now. I know about the Infineon facility. At some point it will probably behoove AMD to pursue 12" capability, and partnering with the operation you specify makes sense.

As far as erosion of Intel's ASP, it certainly hasn't happened yet (maybe even going the other way???), and this same thing been speculated ever since the Athlon came out.
