MEDIA RELEASE

TEXAS FLOW TEST RESULTS ANNOUNCED?

Commonwealth Energy Corp. ("Commonwealth" or "the Company") is pleased to announce the Flow Test results received from testing the Duffer formation in the Warren/Thurmond #2 well on the Company's 2,600 acre Camp Colorado Prospect in Coleman County, Texas.

The well was flowed on a 18/64 inch choke and tested at a projected daily rate of 520,000 Cubic Feet of Gas and 98.6 Barrels of Oil. The absolute open flow rate was calculated at 700,000 Cubic Feet of Gas per Day. The well is now being put on production.

The Company is extremely pleased with this result. The Camp Colorado Prospect now has two wells that produce from different zones; the Duffer Formation and the Caddo Limestone Formation. In addition to these producing zones there are other Formations that show potential according to the electric logs. As stated in Commonwealth's March 17, 2000 News Release, the two successful wells drilled to date have proven that this Prospect has multi-zone production potential and the Prospect appears to have sufficient acreage to support the drilling of an additional 10 to 12 wells.

COMMONWEALTH TO BEGIN DRILLING FOR OIL & GAS IN WYOMING

&

TEXAS OIL & GAS WELL IS NOW BEING PUT ON PRODUCTION

Commonwealth Energy Corp. ("Commonwealth" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that the equipment is now being moved on site to build location and begin the drilling of the DRISCOLL 22-19 well on the Company's MADREN DRAW PROSPECT in Wyoming. The well will be drilled to the Fall River (Dakota) Formation at an approximate depth of 5,500 feet. The principle drilling objective is to discover Oil & Gas in the Channel Sands of the Fall River (Dakota) Formation.

The Madren Draw Prospect covers 3,400 acres and is located in Weston County, Wyoming. It lies within the famous oil & gas producing region known as the Powder River Basin in northeastern Wyoming. Two extensive geologic studies have been completed on the Prospect, both of which conclude that the Madren Draw may have geological similarities to a discovery in the Fall River (Dakota) Formation in 1958 known as the Coyote Creek Oil & Gas Field. To date the Coyote Creek Field has produced over 30 Million Barrels of Oil & 25 Billion Cubic feet of Gas. The Coyote Creek Field lies 7 miles northwest of the Madren Draw Prospect.

The Company would also like to announce that the Warren/Thurmond #2 well on the 2,600 acre Camp Colorado Prospect in Coleman County, Texas is now being tied in to the production facility. In reference to Commonwealth's Media Release dated March 22, 2000 the Warren/Thurmond #2 well flow tested at 98.6 Barrels of Oil / Day and 520,000 Cubic feet of Gas / Day on a 18/64 inch choke and open flow tested at 700,000 Cubic feet of Gas / Day. With two wells currently producing on this Prospect, a further development drilling program is now in the planning stages.

For more information, please contact Doug Wolters or Robert Stewart at 1-800-950-2587 or visit the company web-site at www.commonwealthenergy.com.

Commonwealth Purchase 50% Of New Gas Prospect in Texas;

Engineering Report States Reserves of 38 Billion Cubic Feet of Gas in Existing Well?

Commonwealth Energy Corp. ("Commonwealth" or "the Company") is pleased to announce it has acquired a 50% Working Interest in the BEDSOLE UNIT, a 700-acre Natural Gas horizon in Leon County, Texas. Trend Capital Corp., a privately owned Company owns the remaining 50% working interest.

Commonwealth and Trend Capital Corp. hired the engineering firm of William M. Cobb & Associates Inc., Worldwide Petroleum Consultants to do an Engineering and Economic study of the existing well bore on the property. The study completed on April 1, 2000 analyzed the Bossier Zone at a depth of 14,140 feet, the Cotton Valley Sand Zone at a depth of 12,738 feet, and the Travis Peak Zone at a depth of 9,370 feet. The results of the Engineering Study indicate Natural Gas Reserves in this one well to be 38.3 Billion Cubic feet of Gas with a net probable recovery of 16.32 Billion Cubic feet of Gas. This is the combined total of gas reserves in the three zones behind casing in the well based on a 160-acre spacing unit. In addition 3D Seismic as well as Electro-Seise Inc.'s airborne Gravity Seismic technology both indicate that there are two Pinnacle Reef potential drilling targets contained within the 700-acre Bedsole Unit. The Bedsole Unit lies on trend within 1.5 miles of two Reef discoveries. The Marshall A-1 discovery has to date produced 900 Billion Cubic feet of Gas and continues to produce 10 Million Cubic feet of Gas per Day. The Poth Wells Discovery has produced more than 60 Billion Cubic feet of Gas from 2 wells and they are currently producing more than 20 Million Cubic feet of Gas per Day.

When the existing well on the property known as the Amerada Hess T-BAR-X Bedsole #1 (Bedsole #1) was drilled, the primary target was the Cotton Valley Reef at 16,312 feet. During the drilling process, the well was logged at 14,242 feet and 7-inch intermediate casing was set. The drilling company then proceeded to drill to 16,312 feet and made two unsuccessful horizontal attempts to locate the Reef.

Pinnacle Gas, a subsidiary of Western Gas Pipeline have a 20-inch pipeline within 2,000 feet of the Bedsole #1 well and are able and willing to buy all the Gas that Commonwealth and Trend can produce from the well. Commonwealth plans to perforate, treat, and test the Bossier Zone in the Bedsole #1 well at a depth of 14,140 feet during May, 2000.

The drilling of the Driscoll 22-19 Well on the Madren Draw Prospect in Wyoming is progressing as planned. As of 7 a.m. today, the Company is drilling at a depth of 1,662 feet. The target zone is the Fall River (Dakota) Formation at a depth of 5,500 feet.

Lorne Torhjelm, President of Commonwealth Energy Corp. is a 50% owner of the private company, Trend Capital Corp. For more information, please contact Doug Wolters or Robert Stewart at 1-800-950-2587 or visit the Company web-site at www.commonwealthenergy.com.

Very unfortunate, well #2 in Wyoming was also "wet" and is being capped. I am told that the company did get a read on the shallow gas zone but that it was uneconomic in this well. They are intending to perforate well #1 to see if they have something worthwhile there.

The new project in Texas, just announced last Thursday, has much less speculative risk involved and should be getting rolling quite soon.

Salut,
Leigh McBain

Update for Commonwealth E-mail List:

Commonwealth Energy Corp. will be perforating the Bossier formation in the BEDSOLE UNIT well (Amerada Hess T-BAR-X Bedsole #1) in Texas on Thursday or Friday of this week. The Service Rig has moved on location today and is preparing the well bore for completion testing.

Commonwealth is the Operator and owns 50% of the Bedsole Unit. The Well being tested, according to the recently completed Engineering Report has potential to flow test at a rate between 4 & 6,000,000 Cubic Feet of Gas / Day. The Engineers have given the gas reserves in the well an undiscounted value of $17,884,000.00 USD based on a Natural Gas price of $2.00 USD / MCF. Natural Gas prices closed today at $4.35 USD / MCF (MCF = one thousand cubic feet). The price of Natural Gas has increased over $1.00 USD in the past 2-3 weeks alone.

Junior Resource Company's showing success in finding Natural Gas Reserves are doing extremely well in the Market right now. We feel Commonwealth is on the verge of successfully adding substantial Natural Gas Reserves and Production and that this will have a dramatic postive effect on the Company's Stock Price.

For more information, please read Commonwealth's May 17 or April 19 Media Releases or call us @ 1-800-950-2587.

COMMONWEALTH E-MAIL LIST UPDATE

FRIDAY, JUNE 2, 2000 11:30 A.M.

BEDSOLE #1 WELL - BEDSOLE UNIT, TEXAS

The completion rig was brought on site Tuesday and over the past three days the well casing was pressure tested and the well was cleaned. The well was reported to be in excellent condition; therefore the completion of the Bossier Formation began this morning.

Commonwealth is currently perforating (perforating is the process of shooting holes in the casing of the well in order to establish communication between the well and the formation). There are 4 scheduled perforations to be shot through the casing at the Bossier Formation depth. Two have been completed as of 11:00 a.m. today and the well-site geologist and completion team have confirmed that they were successful.

Commonwealth will complete the perforating today and run pipe (tubing) in the hole tomorrow. The initial completion results will be announced on Monday morning.

Commonwealth is the Operator and owns 50% of the Bedsole Unit. The Bedsole #1 well, according to the recently completed Engineering Report has potential to flow test at a rate between 4 & 6,000,000 Cubic Feet of Gas / Day. With gas prices hovering around the $4.00 / MCF mark, we believe this would have a significant impact on Commonwealth's share price.

For more information, please read Commonwealth's May 17 or April 19 Media Releases or call us @ 1-800-950-2587.
