TV GUIDE, INC. ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE OF MURDOCH MAGAZINES DISTRIBUTION, INC. TO TV GUIDE DISTRIBUTION, INC.


New York, NY (January 13, 2000) TV Guide, Inc. today announced it has officially changed the name of Murdoch Magazine Distribution, Inc.(MMDI), to TV Guide Distribution, Inc. - effective immediately. Under its new name, TV Guide Distribution, Inc. will maintain its reputation as a distribution leader and build upon the many successes it has already achieved including annual unit sales in excess of 505 million copies.

The company distributes six (6) of the top ten (10) weekly titles and eleven (11) of the top twenty-five (25) mass-market titles. Additionally, of the top 50 checkout titles, TV Guide Distribution, Inc. represents 46% of the total retail dollar sales, and 56% of the total sales volume.

On Oct. 4, 1999, TV Guide, Inc. (NASDAQ: TVGIA) and Gemstar International Group Limited (NASDAQ: GMST) announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which TV Guide, Inc. will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Gemstar.
