Why is is it so hard to believe, Charley. I find it entirely believable. It's a big country and it's loaded to the gills with guns. What that fact doesn't tell us is how many of those "children" are 16 year old inner city youths, how many are 5 year old children on farms, etc...

CM Joe Lockhart just said on Meet the Press that 12 kids are killed every day by guns in this country. I find that amazing. How can that possibly be? The figures are from a DOJ report from '97, (I think) and includes murders, suicides (50%) and accidental deaths and not incidentally includes kids to age 19. I have no idea if the figure is still that high, but I doubt it is.

Now to get that number that Joe and the president are tossing around they call everyone 26 and under children. Back that down to under 16 and it's more like one every 3 days.
