Since Cisco is selling a system sale, and not a hardware sale, if they come in late on optical hardware, they still will have an enormous advantage.

The discussion this weekend has made me believe that Gilder was right to retract his remarks about the demise of Cisco.

To stretch one's credibility even further on this fine Sunday, consider Gilder's comment in a letter he appended to the current issues of GTR that $20,000 invested in Intel in 1987 would be worth $1 million today. He then likens JDSU to provide these same returns going forward.

That would have JDSU at a $4.632 trillion market cap in 2013.

Any thoughts?
