I knew where the "JDS" in "JDS Fitel" came from but I didn't know where "Fitel" was derived. Read this article to find out. Pretty light but informative.

That's like selling your entire position in 1991 in MSFT and buying AAPL instead.

Different game. Different rules. If quality (certifications, standards, etc.) had been as important to that race as it is to fiber optics, who would have won?

I predict there won't be one winner so hold them both. So far that's served me well.
