Forecaster's Modest Proposal.

It is evidently agreed by all parties that holding our company shares is, in the present deplorable state of the world politics, a very great additional grievance. Judging by their dismal market value, whoever could find a fair, cheap and easy method of ending our suffering and at the same time making them a little more useful, would certainly deserve a Nobel prize nomination by this great nation.

I shall now, therefore, humbly propose my own thoughts, which I hope will not be liable to the least objection. Using the excellent time window of the great Calgary Spring, hot from the knife so to speak, we all could dispose of our entire holdings by offering them scot-free to the bondholders who had previously expressed casual interest in collecting them as souvenirs and who might possibly be still so inclined.

Definite advantages would flow out of this solution as the disposal could be executed without undue delays and the shareholders could realize significant savings of 3-4 cents/share by eventually talking their brokers into forgiveness of commissions on the zero amount settlements. Additionally, this thrifty approach would give rise to sizeable capital losses with all their beneficial consequences for many years to come.

I profess, in the sincerity of my heart, that I have not the least personal interest in promoting this necessary transaction, having no other motive than the good of our investments, relieving the poor and giving some pleasure to the rich. I have no bonds and I cannot buy any, considering the sorry state of my old Chevy and the mortgage on the house.

Razor

Great read. Thanks. But, I disagree, in some respects it is "on-topic", in that it is a warning of foreign dealings. Sometimes we need a little reminder as to what can go wrong. Just keeps us sharper.
