DN,
Thanks for your response-- and, I, too, am sensitive to thread bloat. However, I must disagree that an explanation of routers, switches, and hubs are off topic. Many of the companies involved are, have been, or will playing a gorilla game and we gorilla chasers might benefit.

That said, I certainly respect your thoughts and will PM my request.

Thanks again.

Len

WIND - Tornado for Managed Switches (TMS)

DN, recently we've discussed WIND on this thread as a GG candidate. Can you comment on the possibility that WIND's TMS is a discontinuous innovation that will reshape the networking industry?

Note: Cerent used this on it's 454 SONET box prior to the $6.9 billion CSCO buyout. Zhone, founded by some former Ascend execs, is also using it.

>> I would be pleased to do that, but it really would stray from the focus of this thread.

I respectfully disagree, DN. A major goal of the thread is to understand enough technology to play the Gorilla game. And we have not devoted nearly enough time to discussing the networking sector. Please help educate us.
