How things change, Professor Dotcom. Your comment about the Kuomintang is right-on. In effect, the mainland government acted (ineffectively) to support the Kuomintang in the run-up to the election and now must deal with the "defeat" because the Kuomintang didn't win. This would have been unthinkable in the 1950s.

I think this shows just how anachronistic and irrelevant the entire policy of "one China, two systems" is. The system on the mainland is no longer relevant in this century.
