Anti-ageing drug perks up
29-year-old panda

HONG KONG (Reuters) - A panda is still
perky at 29 thanks to anti-aging pills, a
Chinese drug firm said Monday.

SIIC Medical Science and Technology,
unveiling plans to sell products overseas
and on the Internet, said a pill developed
by its subsidiary Hangzhou Qingchunbao
had kept a panda in a Hangzhou zoo in the
pink of health.

"The panda, at 29 years of age, is still jumping around.
What is the reason? For nine years, we have given it our
anti-aging pills," chairman Zhuo Fu Min told a news
conference, drawing laughter. For a panda, 29 is roughly
equivalent to a human age of over 80, he said.

Zhuo said the company, which uses natural ingredients, also
planned to develop anti-cancer medicines. The contents of
the panda's tonic were not disclosed.
