Carnac -- you hit it on the head. IP is the big battle in China and the government won't give you the business unless you give up the IP. Why? Because foreign IP means hard cash flow out of China.

Friends in Taiwan tell me that China will not attack. As you pointed out, they have no Navy so they cannot back up their war-words. Second, China cannot afford to attack because a significant part of its high-tech economy is dependent on Taiwanese factories and R&D facilities based in mainland China.

One cannot begin to understand China without reading the "Art of War."

I will be in Taiwan next week. I'll let you know what is the word on the street.
