..I can bring up at least 30 posts and even more pre-earnings downdrafts from the past 17 earnings seasons. I just don't have the time nor unfortunately does Silicon have the 'capacity' to search beyond 3 months for posts. If it did you would see the exact historical patterns presenting themselves before each and every earning season. This one is not even steeper it just looks that way because 400 dollar stocks have now become commonplace when they were a rarity, and 200 dollar stocks are now coming into 'normal tradeable' ranges once again.

Since I haven't traded this last week I haven't really felt the market fall except in some mutual funds which have lost more than half of the 25% gains which were made in less than a week' worth of sessions previous to the fall so I don't mind. I haven't given any sell orders on any stocks although I did divest all my biotechs funds, and holdings except one sole mutual fund by the first week of March because I was leaving and did not want to be stuck with any volatile stocks.

I am expecting a phenomenal earnings season, but you must expect the 'panic that follows the short-fall announcements' that the financial sky is falling. It is not falling, it is just getting into a better position to enjoy those stocks that have gone quite above 'normal' and rational trading range and they will be back before too long.

Macduff: I always listen to what Jenna says. I suspect though that this "correction" is a bit more than the typical downturn prior to earnings releases. The bio's and the many internets have taken a clobbering...and it's not likely they'll turn and run to new highs... no matter how good earnings or revenues come in. Rallies? Yes. I think it's just another "sector-rotation"...out of one sector, into another. Be careful...always place stops when entering orders. (Lee)
