Hekimian and NHC enter into partnering agreement

News Release
Mr. Sylvain Abitbol reports
NHC Communications has reached a partnering agreement with Hekimian
Laboratories, Inc. of Rockville, Md. The arrangement will serve as a
template for NHC's penetration of the North American DSL market through
strategic partnering.
NHC manufactures industry-leading switching products for DSL networks,
while Hekimian is the leading independent global provider of service
assurance solutions for DSL service providers. Under the agreement, the two
companies will ensure interoperability of Hekimian's CopperMax/RT remote
test unit with NHC's Virtual Cross-Connect System (VCCS), providing
competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and incumbent local exchange
carriers (ILECs) with a total solution to their switching, testing and
monitoring needs.
"Our agreement with Hekimian is highly consistent with our growth strategy
to find complementary relationships with other DSL leaders," said Peter
Benisti, vice-president, sales of NHC. "We expect a significant percentage
of our future revenue will come from the customer base we share with our
strategic partners."
Because CopperMax/RT gives VCCS unparalleled ability to provide remote
testing at both the CLEC collocation and the ILEC central office, the
service provider can test, qualify and deploy unbundled copper loops at
carrier-scale, without having to dispatch technicians to the central office
or customer premises.
"Service providers in today's highly competitive DSL market space face
growing demand for the kind of any-to-any copper cross-connect capabilities
delivered by NHC," said Patrick Kiernan, director of market management at
Hekimian. "This interoperability agreement makes it possible for customers
using our market-leading DSL service assurance capability to access all of
the capabilities offered by NHC. Customers of either firm can now enjoy the
benefits of the most complete solution set available."
CopperMax/RT is a hardened, small-footprint RTU designed not only for
remote terminals and controlled environment vaults, but central offices as
well. Deploying CopperMax/RT with VCCS gives users seamless two- and
four-wire circuit access and testing, including non-intrusive wide-band
monitoring of DSL and other services and a next-generation TDR
configuration that is exceptionally cost-effective.
