Great post from TOBAGO on RB. Time to do a little speculatin'.

Latest RIO Player uses the Cirrus ARM Processor with embedded SRAM array. IMO it does not use MicroOS since it can only handle Multi-CODEC but not Multi-DRM and there is not reason to have a costly embedded SRAM array if you had microOS. This RIO design has several weakness I talked about last Thursday.

Also, AKAOOS posted recently that he Confirmed from RIO that e.Digital was not involved with this player but will be with the next RIO player.

moxa1: I got a callback from RIO and was told that e.Digital WAS NOT in this current G3
player, but it was going to be in a future one. I remember that e.Digital has a contract with
RIO and my original call was placed to see if the "PUCK" was what was on the Compaq
Presario 7970 desktop as an icon when the RioAudio program was accessed. That was
a coincidence.

The RIO rep volunteered the information that a future RIO player will utilize e.Digital. He
also volunteered the info that EDIG and RIO have a contract. He might have said it will be
the next one to come out. If I knew more I would remember better because half my mental
energy is used trying to keep up with what is being discussed.

I am almost positive that he said it will be in the next one. My confusion is due to the fact
that the one just released is considered a G3 player and EDIG is supposed to do G3.

Until VTT and TTV really take off, should EDIG consider acquiring Tegic Communications, Inc.
