I've been reading Gilder for years, well before he was a tech guru. Very smart man. As you know, in the 1980's Gilder helped the Reagan Administration beat back the "Atari Democrats" like AlGore who wanted the government to embrace analog HDTV to the tune of billions. (That was before he invented the internet). Japan took that path and lost not only its money but its technological lead. btw, I was thinking about AlGore's claim to have discovered "Love Canal". That clicked somewhere in the recesses of my mind and I remembered the real AlGore connection - that the fount of his family's fortune, Occidental Petroleum, owned Hooker Chemical, the company that caused all the pollution. AlGore Sr. was on the Board of OXY after the people voted him him out of office and AlGore still oversees his family's considerable OXY stake. usdoj.gov
