the population at large knows nothing about the Kleiner Perkins keiretsu. w/regards to Taiwan, i don't think you can compare a sophisticated economy like Taiwan's with third world places like Albania and Indonesia. remember Hong Kong? the government intervention in that stock market marked a low, from which we have since rallied roughly 200%.
my guess is that Taiwan was looking at the HK example and decided a little bit of tinkering with the 'free' market couldn't hurt.
expect to see a lot more stock market rigging in the future,
even in the US.
the gamblers should be besides themselves with glee over the no-lose situation they find themselves in.
