Intel's policy is to not talk about unannounced products. However, a lot comes out about Merced, Willamette, Timna, etc., because they are, after all, the 800 lb. gorilla (The Register calls them Chipzilla). Different policies by different companies. How about this, by late 2001, 2 GHz is probably where Intel, maybe AMD are, anyway.

I have the utmost respect for IBM's technological prowess, so don't get me wrong in that regard.

HAL Computer? or HAL 2001? No comprende.
