"The lack of blood spray and quantity at the crime scene strongly suggests she was not murdered there..."

"Yes, I find this puzzling too, but evidently the police say she was murdered on the spot, and I doubt their forensics people would have got it that badly wrong."

Here is how it could've happened.
Suzanne and someone she knew were arguing across the street from where her body was found. Suzanne got fed up with the arguing, turned, and started walking towards the other side of the street. The "friend" became enraged......pulled a 4" lock blade knife out of his pocket, opened it, and ran towards Suzanne. Suzanne is now about two feet away from the curb. The killer catches up to her and places his left hand on her forehead, pulls her head back and quickly cuts her throat severing the carotid artery. But the cut is not deep enough or long enough to sever her vocal cords and windpipe. Suzanne grabs her throat and starts screaming. The killer panics and starts stabbing her in the head hoping to knock her out. Suzanne is dazed by the first blow to the head, falls to her knees and then falls forward on the grass. The blood is spurting out of her neck onto the grass and is quickly absorbed by the sandy soil.

From the time her throat was cut to the time she was lying on the grass was probably no more than seven seconds. That means that only six or seven spurts of blood landed on the asphalt which accounts for "very little blood at the crime scene". The blood was in the grass and dirt.

Try pouring two or three quarts of red Koolaid on grass, wait 10 minutes, and see how much is still visible.
