Jim, am I missing something obvious here? The NYT article said Netpliance's hardware cost was $300-400, which I believe with the screen, it's basically an el cheapo laptop without a battery, in a slightly different form factor. Put a disk in and run Windows, and you don't need their proprietary internet service, which is what's supposed to subsidize the hardware. The one thing that might be slightly on topic is viewing this as a little preview of other kinds of games to play with the x-box. Cheers, Dan.
